Some registrars need a pricing table with footnotes. Porkbun needs one line: a .com costs $11.08 — to register, to transfer in, and to renew, every year, with free WHOIS privacy included. That flatness is the whole review in miniature: Porkbun is a small, independent registrar that competes by being fair and pleasant instead of loud. Here is what it does well, what it deliberately doesn’t do, and who it suits.

The numbers

1st yearRenewal / yr5-year cost
Porkbun .com$11.08$11.08$55.40
Cloudflare .com$10.44$10.44$52.20
GoDaddy .com$0.99–$4.99 promos$22.99~$96.95

Prices checked 24 October 2026 — see how we check prices. Five-year cost = first year + four renewals, before taxes.

Porkbun’s $11.08 is a small, honest margin over the $10.44 wholesale cost — $0.64 a year — and for that margin you get something the at-cost option doesn’t offer: no conditions. Cloudflare’s $10.44 requires your domain to use Cloudflare’s DNS; Porkbun’s price comes with your choice of nameservers, full stop.

What Porkbun does well

  • Flat, published pricing across registration, transfer and renewal — the number you see in year one is the number in year five.
  • Free WHOIS privacy on every domain, no upgrade tier, no renewal catch.
  • Useful free extras: free SSL certificates, email and URL forwarding, and a proper API for people who manage domains in bulk.
  • The dashboard is fast, uncluttered and quietly funny — managing twenty domains feels like managing two.
  • Almost no upsells. There is very little in the shop window besides domains, and the checkout respects that.

Where it falls short

  • Not the absolute cheapest: Spaceship ($10.18 total) and Cloudflare ($10.44) undercut it by roughly a dollar a year — see our three-way comparison.
  • No phone support: help is by ticket and email. Replies are good, but if you want to call a human at midnight, this is not your registrar.
  • A smaller, younger name than the giants — some buyers simply prefer a household brand holding their domains.
  • It is a registrar, not a platform: if you want hosting, builders and marketing suites in the same account, Porkbun is not trying to sell you that bundle.

Who Porkbun is — and is not — for

Best for: most people moving a handful of domains away from a marked-up registrar — it is the default recommendation in our guides precisely because it asks nothing of you in return for a fair price.

Not for: squeezing the last dollar (Cloudflare or Spaceship win that contest), or buyers who need phone support and a big-brand logo on the invoice.

The bottom line

Porkbun is what a registrar looks like when it competes on fairness: one flat price, privacy included, a dashboard people genuinely enjoy. Moving five domains here from GoDaddy saves about $59.55 a year — check your own portfolio in the calculator and the full field in the comparison table.
